United launches Newark to Seoul direct service!
Normally I keep abreast of the new United routes, but somehow I missed this one altogether! With Asiana (United's Star Alliance partner) being absorbed into its SkyTeam sister Korean Air, this seems like a logical route to launch. We've flown Asiana many times over the years and will definitely miss their great food, onboard espresso, and kind service. Hopefully the catering out of Seoul back to NYC will have decent food. (I've definitely noticed the United food leaving Sydney is superior to the food in the opposite direction.) I've just gotten so used to the drill of long-haul United flying that I just don't care about the surly FAs anymore. I get my own mattress pad, eat whatever slop they serve me (or grab a reserve snack from my purse), have a drink and a Xanax and I'm there. I don't pay the $9000 fare they're asking so I don't get too twisted about it. I'm also going to miss being able to book a single SYD-ICN-JFK ticket like I could on A...
