Earn JetBlue points with Lyft, announces JFK T5 pickup area

Image
You can now earn JetBlue miles whenever you take a ride with Lyft. It's not much (30 JetBlue miles for every trip, max of 1200 per year), but if you're already a frequent Lyft user it's free money. They're also adding Lyft capabilities to the JetBlue app, and eventually   launching a designated Lyft pickup area at JFK T5 . I mention this because at the moment (Fall 2016) the taxi situation at Terminal 5 is an absolute mess, so any improvements on that front are more than welcome! In a Web browser, log in to your account on Lyft.com Click your name in the upper right corner and go to Dashboard Then click Connected Services and enter your TrueBlue account number It probably wouldn't hurt to go to the App store and make sure you have the latest version of the Lyft App while you're at it.

Trip Report: British Airways Business Class New York Kennedy to London Heathrow (JFK-LHR)

Image
This trip was JFK – LHR in business and then LHR – JFK in First . This itinerary cost us  65,000 Avios + $1150 per person, round trip . I used our last Travel Together certificate to halve the number of miles from 130,000. ( How I did it ) This is such a busy and well-documented flight that I'm only going to post a couple of quick notes.  On the 747, BA's "Club World" Business Class cabin is split between the upper and lower decks . Most of the New York - London flights are overnight so we opted to sit upstairs because the small cabin (only 20 seats!) up there is much quieter and less trafficked than the downstairs which makes it easier to sleep. BA makes you pay to choose your seat in advance, even in full-fare Business Class  so we decided to spend the money to make sure we were sitting up top. Seat selection is free once check-in opens up (24 hours before departure), so you could risk it and try to snag a seat upstairs by checking in right at the 24 hour...

Major delays in 2015 at JFK

Gothamist is reporting long delays for JFK flights due to construction and upgrades. The disruption is supposed to last through the end of 2015. Put that "Search nearby airports" button on Kayak to work! Sadly this was the year that we decided to switch to JetBlue for all of our transcon flights. JetBlue's official statement is here . I've often thought that the coast-to-coast redeye is actually too short of a flight when you have a comfortable bed like JetBlue Mint Class has... If only they could hurry up and get FAA approval for these new seats that allow you to recline during takeoff , I wouldn't mind an extra two hours in my seat :)

Warsaw to JFK on the 787

The layout engine here on Blogger.com feels a little clunky and 1998... Honestly why have 400 themes when you can't get a blank template right? *Le Sigh* Since so few people fly through Poland, I had a friend ask me to write up a trip report for our 2013 trip on LOT Poland's new 787. I decided to put it on Medium.com since it looks so much nicer and the editing process is so much less clunky. Check it out :)
