Free ride from the airport from Uber and Amex

Uber and Amex launched a holiday promotion where cardholders can get a free trip (up to $65) from select airports during the holidays. Enter the code AMEXAIRPORT into your app (and make sure the app is set to pay with your Amex card) to claim your free trip. The promotion ends December 31st.

UPDATE: I used Uber to get home from JFK last night and the discount posted instantly!

If you don't have Uber yet, you can use my signup code (uberbriankusler) for even more free rides.

Many airports now permit Uber and Lyft to pick you up from the arrivals level

Participating airports:
  • LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
  • John F. Kennedy International Airport  (JFK)
  • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
  • Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW)
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
  • McCarran International Airport (LAS)
  • George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)
  • Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
  • Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)

While I'm on the topic of ridesharing companies: don't forget to poke through your Amex Offers... I just noticed that Amex has an opt-in offer for 2x points when you pay for your Lyft ride with your Amex card. Not sure if you can double-dip on that one with the JetBlue/Lyft promo :)

Earn JetBlue points with Lyft, announces JFK T5 pickup area

You can now earn JetBlue miles whenever you take a ride with Lyft. It's not much (30 JetBlue miles for every trip, max of 1200 per year), but if you're already a frequent Lyft user it's free money. They're also adding Lyft capabilities to the JetBlue app, and eventually launching a designated Lyft pickup area at JFK T5. I mention this because at the moment (Fall 2016) the taxi situation at Terminal 5 is an absolute mess, so any improvements on that front are more than welcome!
  • In a Web browser, log in to your account on
  • Click your name in the upper right corner and go to Dashboard
  • Then click Connected Services and enter your TrueBlue account number
  • It probably wouldn't hurt to go to the App store and make sure you have the latest version of the Lyft App while you're at it.
